How to perform routine maintenance on screw air compressors?

1. Air filter element (air filter)

Air filter, abbreviated as air filter, is the main component that filters and removes dust and particles contained in the inhaled air dust. The relatively clean air filtered enters the compression chamber of the screw host, which is a prerequisite for the normal operation of the air compressor. Generally speaking, the filtration accuracy of the air compressor filter element is between 3um and 15um, depending on actual needs. When the air contains a large amount of dust and particles, it is necessary to use air filters with higher filtration accuracy. Due to the internal clearance of the screw machine only allowing 10 μ Particles within m, if the quality of the air filter is rough and a large amount exceeds 10 μ The particles of m entering the screw machine for circulation not only shorten the service life of the oil filter core and oil gas separation core, but also lead to rotor wear, increased clearance, and reduced compression efficiency.

2. Oil filter element (oil filter)

Oil filter element, abbreviated as oil filter, has a filtration accuracy generally between 5um and 10um. It filters out impurities contained in the lubricating oil system, protects the main engine, prevents cooler and oil pipe blockage, and thus eliminates the occurrence of high temperature in the air compressor.

After the first 500 hours of operation of the new machine, a new filter needs to be replaced. Afterwards, the replacement cycle is generally 1500-2000 hours, while taking into account specific operating conditions.

To replace the machine filter in a timely manner, it is best to add screw machine oil. After sealing the machine filter, tighten the oil filter seat with both hands and tighten it.

3. Oil/air separator element (oil separator)

Oil/air separator element, abbreviated as oil separator core, is a component that separates screw lubricating oil from compressed air. Under normal operating conditions, the service life of the oil/air separator element is around 3000 hours. When the Oil/air separator element fails or the pressure difference before and after exceeds 0.12MPa, it must be replaced. Otherwise, it will cause motor overload and damage to the Oil/air separator element.

Replacement method: After the pressure inside the oil/air tank is relieved, remove the control pipe joint installed on the oil/air tank cover. Take out the return oil pipe that extends into the oil/air tank from the cover. Remove the top cover of the oil tank and take out the core of the oil/air separator element. Remove asbestos pads and dirt attached to the top cover. Install the new oil/air separator element, making sure to install the upper and lower asbestos pads properly. Install the upper cover plate, return oil pipe, and each control pipe back in their original state.

4. Lubricating oil

Lubricating oil, also known as screw lubricating oil or super coolant. Its quality has a decisive impact on the performance of screw machines. Good oil products have good antioxidant stability, rapid separation, good foaming properties, high viscosity, and good anti-corrosion performance. Therefore, users must use our company's exclusive pure screw oil.

Replacement method: Start the air compressor and run it for 5 minutes to raise the oil temperature to above 50 , and the oil viscosity will decrease. When the pressure of the oil and gas tank is 0.1 MPa, slowly open the oil drain valve at the bottom of the tank to prevent warm lubricating oil from splashing out. After draining the old lubricating oil, close the oil drain valve. Open the oil filler plug, inject new oil, and ensure that the oil level is within the range of the oil mark. Tighten the oil filler plug and check for any oil leakage. Lubricating oil must be checked regularly during use. If the oil level line is found to be too low, new oil should be added in a timely manner. Lubricating oil must also discharge condensate water frequently during use.

It is strictly prohibited to mix different grades of lubricating oil and avoid long-term use of lubricating oil. Otherwise, the quality of lubricating oil will decrease, the lubricity will deteriorate, the flash point will decrease, and it is easy to cause high-temperature shutdown.

5. Cooling unit

The cooling effect of the cooler directly affects the operating temperature of the air compressor. The screw cooler is upright, and during maintenance, it is necessary to blow dry compressed air with a pressure of 0.4MPa or above from the outside to the inside. After blowing, clean the dust and particles inside the air guide hood to prevent blockage caused by the fan blowing into the cooler again, which can cause high temperature of the machine.
