The role of the frequency converter in the air compressor?

The frequency converter is a very important controller on the air compressor. The use of the frequency converter in the air compressor system enables the air compressor system to control the motor speed immediately without changing the motor torque of the air compressor through the accurate coordination of electrical control and frequency conversion control. By changing the compressor speed, it responds to the change of the system pressure and maintains a stable system pressure, so as to achieve the on-demand output of high-quality compressed air. When the air consumption of the system decreases, the compressed air provided by the compressor is greater than the system consumption, and the compressor reduces the rotation speed and reduces the output compressed air volume; On the contrary, increase the operating speed of the motor and the air volume of compressed air to maintain a stable system pressure. The role of the frequency converter in its system is the same as that of the fan motor and water pump. It controls the input voltage frequency according to the load change.

We all know that the frequency conversion screw air compressor has a frequency converter to adjust the power, thereby adjusting the motor speed. In fact, the inverter not only has the function of adjusting the power, but also can protect the air compressor:

1. Overvoltage protection:

The output of the frequency converter of the air compressor has a voltage detection function. The frequency converter can automatically adjust the output voltage so that the motor does not bear overvoltage. Even if the output voltage adjustment fails and the output voltage exceeds 110% of the normal voltage, the frequency converter will protect the motor through shutdown.

2. Undervoltage protection:

When the voltage of the inverter air compressor motor is much lower than the normal voltage, the inverter protection stops.

3. Overcurrent protection:

When the current of the motor exceeds 150% / 3 seconds of the rated value or 200% / 10 microseconds of the rated current, the frequency converter stops to protect the motor.

4. Phase loss protection

The variable frequency air compressor monitors the output voltage. When the output phase is missing, the frequency converter will give an alarm. After a period of time, the frequency converter will stop to protect the motor.

5. Reverse phase protection:

The frequency converter makes the motor rotate only in one direction, and the rotation direction cannot be set. Unless the user changes the phase sequence of the wiring of motors a, B and C, there is no possibility of inversion.

6. Overload protection:

The frequency converter monitors the motor current. When the motor current exceeds 120% of the rated current for 1 minute, the frequency converter stops to protect the motor.

7. Grounding protection:

The frequency converter is equipped with a special grounding protection circuit, which is generally composed of grounding protection transformer and relay. When one or two phases of grounding occurs, the air compressor frequency converter will give an alarm. Of course, if the user requires, we can also design to protect the motor immediately after grounding.

8. Short circuit protection:

After the output of the frequency converter is short circuited, it will inevitably cause overcurrent. Within 10 microseconds, the frequency converter will stop to protect the motor.
