1. The role of the oil/air separator

The main purpose is to separate the compressor lubricating oil from the oil-air mixture. Entering into the oil/air separator assembly (the oil/air separator assembly is composed of an oil/air separator, a minimum pressure valve, a safety valve and a container shell), the oil/air mixture undergoes three kinds of separation: centrifugal separation, gravity separation (oil is more dense than gas, and the density is large and weight) and fiber separation. Separation process: The oil/air mixture enters the oil/air barrel along the tangential direction of the outer wall of the oil/air separator, 80% to 90% of the oil is separated from the oil/air mixture (centrifugation), and the remaining (10% to 20%) of the oil sticks to the oil/air separation. The surface of the outer wall of the separator is separated (gravity separation), and a small amount of oil enters the inside of the oil-gas separator (fiber separation), and is pressed back into the screw cavity through the oil return pipe.

2. The gasket of the oil/air separator is conductive

Since air and oil pass through the glass fibers, static electricity is generated between the two separation layers. If the two metal layers are charged with static electricity, there will be a risk of static electricity, discharge, and electrical sparks, which may cause Causes the oil/air separator to explode. Gaskets are used to seal the oil separator core and air receiver, but this can cause electrostatic fields to build up between the separator core and air receiver housing. Good oil separator accessories ensure electrical conductivity between the separator core and the air receiver housing. 3. The adaptability of oil/air separator to differential pressure

The oil/air separator is designed to withstand a pressure difference of up to 0.5Mpa. If the filter element of the oil/air separator exceeds the maximum value, it will burst and the compressor oil cannot be separated, which will affect the whole machine or cause the separator core to be completely damaged. For every additional 0.1Mpa pressure drop in the oil/air separator core, the total power consumption of the motor will increase by 7%; too high pressure drop in the oil-gas separator will cause the separator to catch fire. The reasons for the excessive high pressure difference may be: the oil separator is blocked due to dirt, the reverse flow of air, the large internal pressure fluctuation, and the low-quality oil/air separator core.

4. The metal of the oil/air separator is electroplated, so it is not easy to be corroded

Depending on the ambient conditions (temperature and humidity) and the operating conditions of the compressor, condensate may form inside the oil/air separator. If the oil/air separator is not electroplated, a corrosion layer will form, which will destroy the antioxidants of the compressor oil, which will significantly reduce its service life and the flash point of the oil.

5. Measures to ensure the service life of the oil/air separator

Accumulated dust, residual oil, air contamination or wear can reduce the life of the oil separator.
